Its programme, Live at Mata, has one rule that reorders everything: originals only, no covers. It’s a stage for new and developing artists to build a crowd playing their own material, in a room designed for listening over loudness.
In a Canggu scene built on the safe booking, that’s close to heresy — and it’s the entire point. Discovery over the familiar. You might walk in not knowing a single name on the bill and leave with a new one stuck in your head. Sets land on selected nights, usually from around 8pm, and the room stays intimate on purpose. Founded by musician Marcello Tahitoe, Paisley treats the bar and the records as the cultural engine of the whole place, not the afterthought.
